Serve @ Kidzlife

Serving at Kidzlife is a great way to make a difference in the life of a child. Volunteers play an important role in our church’s mission of helping children become grounded and growing in their faith. To find out more, keep reading!

What does a classroom helper do?

A classroom helper plays a supportive role in assisting the teacher during the weekend service. The helper works to maintain a safe, fun, learning environment as children grow in their faith. For a more complete overview, you can view the classroom helper position description here.

How often does a classroom helper serve?

A classroom helper serves either once or twice a month. A leader will work with you to determine a schedule that fits your availability. On the weekends you serve, your time commitment will be around 1½ hours during the weekend service. Volunteers normally serve for a six month period.

Do I need any previous experience with children?

You do not need any previous experience. As a helper, you’ll have a classroom teacher who will be with you at all times. The most important quality to bring is a heart for God and a heart for children.

Will I receive any training prior to serving?

Prior to serving you’ll have an orientation with a kidzlife leader, and you’ll go through our “Intro to Serving” materials. Both the orientation and “Intro to Serving” are designed to help you start strong. The majority of classroom training will be on the job. Because of the presence of a teacher, this training can happen as you serve.

What ages will I work with?

That’s up to you. Our classes range from nursery age, up through 6th grade. A leader will work with you to find an age group that’s best for you.

Is there a background check?

Yes. The safety of the children is a high priority for us. Prior to serving, you’ll fill out the Kidzlife Serving Application. This application includes a request for two references, as well as permission for a background check.

Still want to Learn More?

Here are three options to find out more about volunteering as a classroom helper:

1) Download the classroom helper position description – This description will provide a overview of the specific duties of a classroom volunteer. You can view the description here.

2) Check out a Kidzlife class during the weekend service – One way to learn more is to sit in on an actual class. If you would like to observe a class in action, contact us and we’ll set up a time.

3) Talk to a Kidzlife leader – Another way to learn more is to have a one on one conversation with a leader. If you would like to talk, email us and let us know you’re thinking about volunteering. A leader will be happy to contact you.
